Max's Engine Grows Up!
My Modified Briggs and Stratton
Valve covers removed. This will expose the rocker arms, valve springs, push rods, and the other two head bolts.
Head removed. The four head bolts are torqued and must be loosened in sequence (info will be posted soon).
Side plate and clutch removed. The cam has also been taken out (seen in next pic) and it sits right above the crank. The rods have already been unbolted from the crank in this pic.
This is the side plate that was removed. The governor is controlled by the cam. Oil pump and pickup tube are on the bottom (right in pic) and is run by the crank.
The engine is at the machine shop as off 11-21-00. It will be bored out .060" and will have new Wisco pistons and billet aluminum rods. I will modify the valves and rocker arms to handle 6000 RPM. More pictures will be posted soon.

Want to do this to your engine? It's really easy and a Briggs repair manual will walk you through it if you are unsure. I can help with anything on a Briggs engine.
Torque specs will be posted on this site. The only special tool you need is a torque wrench (~$20). It is very important that heads, side plate, rods, and other parts are torqued to specs.
